Unison has condemned recent comments by senior Labour Party figures and our General Secretary as accused Ed Milliband as “breathtakingly naivety”, You can read more on the national website. As an individual member you can opt out of paying into Unison’s Political fund. There is more to being a member of Unison than contributing to the Labour party and your membership subscription covers all the serivces we provide as well an enabling us to campaign in the interests of our members.

Hopefully Unison will be reviewing their donation to the Labour Party. I don’t want my subs to be paying toward an incapable opposition that doesn’t fight for workers’ rights anymore. If Unison doesn’t see fit to change its policy and keeps supporting the Labour party then Unison can say goodbye to this member.

We could reduce paper work being sent out by adding information to news letters, people can join on line, or ring the branch office for a hard copy to be sent out. But members still need to recruit and we need to increase our density of reps. and stewards

Recruting new members is a top priority for Unison if we are to maintain and increase our strength. Members are one of the best ways to reach non members. We send membership forms to members so they can be used to recruit non members.
