Manchester May Day Festival 2017

North West UNISON is again organising an international zone at the Manchester TUC May Day Festival on Saturday, 29th April at the Mechanics Institute, 103 Princess St., Manchester M1 6DD – the birthplace of the TUC.

The day begins at 11am with the march and rally from All Saints Park. The international sessions will run from 13:15pm to 16:45pm in the John Tocher Room at the Mechanics Institute. We have organised three excellent sessions on a range of important international topics:

13:15 Latin America: Reform and Reaction – films and discussion with Pablo Navarrete, Alborada

14:30 Venezuela: Democracy & Social Progress under attack – Rocío Maneiro, Venezuelan Ambassador to the UK & Dr Francisco Dominguez, Head of Latin American Studies, Middlesex University

15:45 International solidarity and trade union organising  – Ethel Buckley, SIPTU, Ireland
